I had hoped to work in the future garden this past weekend, but the snow and rain showers kept me inside all day. Kind of a bummer, but I cannot control the weather. I would actually like to get in there before it gets too hot, but who am I kidding? This is Michigan...it might be 75 degrees tomorrow!
I am feeling confident about getting this garden going! Matt asked about it and I am hoping he will be getting in there to clean it out so we can get started. I have enlisted help from some people too. The next step is to call my mother in law to get her help as well. She already has a nice organic garden at her home that I admire. If done correctly, this garden can save us a lot of money this spring and summer on vegetables! I am all about saving money.

The Garden
I am trying to figure out how to tackle the mess that will hopefully soon be my garden. There is so much junk in the fenced in area that I don't know where to begin!
I also want to get it cleaned out before it gets too warm ( it's only 50 degrees right now) and before the bees become to plentiful. I also need to find out how I can get a rototiller or if any of my friends have one I ( my husband) can borrow.
I have lots to put on my To Do List!
I might have to put the compost pile on the bottom of the list and try to do one thing at a time. I sometimes get overly ambitious and end up getting nothing accomplished. So one step at a time this year.
I think the garden will be a fun activity that Amara and I can do together and she might even be more willing to eat a more variety of veggies if she knows she had a part in growing them. That's my hope anyway!

snackTAXIs Review and Giveaway
I was given the chance to use these very cool and eco-friendly reusable bags for snacks and sandwiches from snackTAXIs. I packed up a bagged lunch for my 5 year old. It consisted of a PB and J sandwich and fish crackers as well as trail mix and a few graham crackers. I really wanted to make sure none of the foods ended up soggy. The bags passed my test! This really is a great product to have.
snackTAXIs were invented in the hills of western Massachusetts by a mother of three who packs over 500 lunches every year!
They are made in our home-based workshop by talented local sewers. We are committed to keeping our business local, and will never outsource our labor.
snackTAXIs are a great alternative to plastic bags and wraps, especially when just one reusable bag has the potential to eliminate an average of 1000 plastic bags over its lifetime!
I really like what this company stands for. I have been doing more “green” things in my household and this is just one more to check off my list! These bags will come in handy when my daughter starts school and will need to bring a bagged lunch from home. Also, now that the weather is behaving, I know we will use these when we have picnics and go on walks. I want to help eliminate any unnecessary waste every chance I get. snackTAXIs come in a variety of kid friendly styles and there are plenty of styles for adults as well.
The snackTAXIs are easy to care for (a big plus). You can machine or hand wash them and machine or air dry them-whichever you prefer!

Spring projects......
Well it looks like I have a lot of reading to do on this compost pile business. Hope I have not gotten in over my head. It seems complicated! We live in the city, but we have a huge backyard. I am sure I can find a place in the space so it won't bother the neighbors. I mean, we even have a litter box for our Chocolate Lab in one corner of our yard.
I also have big dreams of starting a garden as well. We have the perfect space for one, I just need to rototiller it this spring and then we can get started. I keep saying we...I sure hope Matt is wanting to help.
We had a few *warm* days this week that made me to start thinking about possible projects to tackle. But being that I do live in Michigan and it is still March; snow is in the forecast next week
I can't wait for spring!
